What It Means to Be a Lawyer

What does it mean to be an attorney? To our team at Arnold & Itkin, it means being a counselor, an advocate, and a partner to our clients. Learn how we can help you during this trying time in your life.

When I get up in the morning, I’m thinking about my clients. When I go to sleep at night, I’m thinking about my clients.

I’m thinking about what I can do to make sure they get full justice, they get their medical bills paid, they get their wages taken care of, that the company doesn’t get away with it. What would I expect if I were the client? What would I expect from my lawyer? That’s the mindset we taken on. How would I do it if it was us? If it were me personally? If it were someone representing my brother or my father? It’s like you’re a family member, and you should be treated the same way we would want to be treated.

I got contacted in a terrible case—killed nearly 33 at sea. I flew and sat down at the kitchen table of my client. I said “What’s our number one goal?” “I want to know what happened.” “What’s our number two goal?” “I want to hold them accountable.” One of my favorite things is taking care of a situation and letting people know—“hey, I’m your lawyer. I’m your warrior. I’m going to handle it, you don’t need to worry about it anymore.”

It’s not just a piece of paper, it’s not just a client’s name and number and a file number. It’s personal to us. What happens in the case matters to us because our clients are our friends, they’re like our family. It’s our job to protect them—it’s our job to fight for them.
