A semi-truck driver passed early Tuesday morning when his vehicle collided with a train at the Dow Chemical Company Plant B. The man died at the scene of the accident, and another worker has been taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation by Texas authorities.
The driver was an employee of Buchanan Hauling and Rigging stationed out of Clute.
Dow Chemical Company has released a statement about the accident via the Vice President of Dow U.S. Golf Coast Operations. In the news release, the VP said “We want to express our deepest condolences to those whose lives have changed forever today. Dow takes safety very seriously, and will be conducting a full investigation into the incident.”
The accident had no impact on Dow Chemical operations and had no adverse effects on the environment.
