On early Friday morning around 1:30 a.m., a black Chevrolet pickup truck crashed into the side of an 18-wheeler on Green River Drive in northeast Harris County. The pickup driver died at the scene of the accident.
The truck driver reportedly told investigators that he saw the pickup traveling toward him but thought it was safe to pull out onto the road because the truck was so far away and the speed limit was 30 mph. He said that when he realized the pickup was traveling quickly, he honked his horn to alert the other driver.
Currently, law enforcement is investigating the accident and have stated that speed may have been a factor. However, they have also stated that they are looking into the truck driver to see why he was blocking the road and into whether poor lighting on the trailer was a contributing factor of the fatal accident.
No charges or citations have been filed so far in the case.
