Earlier today, two women were killed in Baytown, Texas when their vehicle crashed with an 18-wheeler. The accident occurred on Highway 99 near Kilgore Road shortly after 11 a.m. according to a trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety, both of the deceased women were in their 20s.
The truck driver and a third person in the passenger vehicle were severely injured and transported to Memorial Hermann hospital by helicopter.
There is no information available regarding what caused the accident.
Truck Accidents Not Uncommon In Baytown
Baytown rests on ship channel and port on the southeast side of Houston. The area is a hotbed for trucking activity as trucks transport goods and equipment to and from the many refineries and industrial sites that are located in Baytown.
Chambers County, where this morning’s fatal accident occurred, had over 1,000 total accidents and 19 fatal accidents in 2014.
