Scott Smith knows first-hand the resources and strength of enormous corporations and insurance companies. As an advocate for injured people, it's why he puts in long hours preparing every case for trial. He takes each one personally, putting as much time and effort into each one to get his clients the best result. He refuses to be outworked or outsmarted, no matter how tough the fight or how powerful the defendant.
Scott started his career by defending large, wealthy corporations and insurance companies during all types of litigation. As Scott did this work, he realized something profound: it was unfulfilling. Scott became a lawyer to help people—something he wasn't doing while defending the behavior of these multimillion-dollar companies.
After joining Arnold & Itkin, Scott has been given the opportunity to seek justice on behalf of those who've sustained serious injuries because of the negligence of others. He uses his experience on the "other side" to help build a strong case for clients. Since he knows the tactics companies use to escape accountability, he is thoroughly prepared to counter them through every step of the litigation process.
Scott attended Utah Valley University, where he studied business management. He continued his education by attending law school at the University of S.J. Quinney College of Law. During his time studying law, Scott was active in many activities, including moot court, trial advocacy, and law review. To further his legal education, Scott completed externships with the Utah Courts of Appeals and the Utah Attorney General's Office. During his third year of law school, Scott completed an honors program that found him working with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission investigating entities participating in corporate fraud. He uses the investigative skills he learned during this time to help clients at Arnold & Itkin.
