Attorney Scott Smith started his career by defending large, wealthy corporations and insurance companies during all types of litigation. As Scott did this work, he realized something profound: it was unfulfilling. Scott became a lawyer to help people—something he wasn’t doing while defending the behavior of these multimillion-dollar companies.

After joining Arnold & Itkin, Scott has been given the opportunity to seek justice on behalf of those who’ve sustained serious injuries because of the negligence of others. He uses his experience on the “other side” to help build a strong case for clients. Since he knows the tactics companies use to escape accountability, he is thoroughly prepared to counter them through every step of the litigation process.

Scott attended Utah Valley University, where he studied business management. He continued his education by attending law school at the University of S.J. Quinney College of Law. During his time studying law, Scott was active in many activities including moot court, trial advocacy, and law review. To further his legal education, Scott completed externships with the Utah Courts of Appeals and the Utah Attorney General’s Office. During his third year of law school, Scott completed an honors program that found him working with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission investigating entities participating in corporate fraud. He uses the investigative skills he learned during this time to help clients at Arnold & Itkin.

“Suffering a catastrophic injury can be overwhelming physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. You need a firm that is going to work for you to get you back on the road to recovery. At Arnold & Itkin, we strive to do what is right by holding the responsible parties accountable. I am proud to work for a firm that is willing to take cases the distance on behalf of their clients.”
