Attorney Andrew Gould brings years of appellate advocacy experience to Arnold & Itkin. He traces the origins of his legal career back to his upbringing in Louisville, Kentucky, where his parents taught him the value of reading, writing, and debating.
During undergraduate school, he used his passions to graduate with honors and win the Arthur Fondiler Award for his history thesis. Andrew continued his studies at Vanderbilt University Law School and graduated Order of the Coif.
While studying law, Andrew used his love of the written word to serve as the executive editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. After publishing a student note on the Second Amendment, he received the Morgan Prize for most outstanding student writing. Though it’s been years since he attended the school, Andrew still works with it as a member of the Vanderbilt Law Review’s Alumni Advisory Committee.
The earliest days of Andrew’s legal career were spent as a clerk for two federal judges. First, he worked under the Honorable Raymond M. Kethledge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and then with the Honorable Lee H. Rosenthal of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. These experiences helped him further advance his legal writing skills and showed him how judges handle every stage of cases.
After his time as a law clerk, Andrew took a job in Washington D.C. at a large corporate law firm. This position allowed him to work on complex cases at the trial and appellate stages.
After working in the corporate world, Andrew came back to Houston where he joined the appellate division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas. His time here found him working as lead counsel on approximately 140 cases and arguing in front of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit 20 times. As he worked, trial prosecutors called on Andrew to assist with difficult cases and he earned awards at the trial, appeal, and post-conviction stages.
In 2021, Arnold & Itkin approached Andrew with the desire to create an appellate division unlike any other law firm. Excited by the opportunity to give regular people a fighting chance against the largest companies in the world, Andrew joined AI.
Andrew knows that working for Arnold & Itkin will enable him to use his legal skills for good. With our team, Andrew fights relentlessly to make sure clients are treated fairly. Whether they’re facing a trial or an appeal, clients can trust Andrew to get the results they deserve. No matter what.
